Lunchtime Play Leaders
Play Leaders
Each lunchtime our KS2 Play Leaders are timetabled outside on each of the yards to provide fun activities for our younger pupils to enjoy. They are fantastic role models, helping their peers to take turns, share, work as a team and learn new skills. They've had 6 weeks of training with Miss Handisides and are fully committed to their role in school. During our physically active lunch time sessions, we have the boom-box outside for zumba and dancing, equipment for sport team games in the MUGA, such as basketball and football and other games are delivered without equipment needed to ensure there are a range of activities and to enable all children to have a safe, fun and active playtime.
We listen to both our sports and school councillors when reflecting on the delivery of our sessions both strengths and areas to develop.

Junior Dukes
A fantastic new scheme introduced this academic year 2023/2024, for KS2.
To encourage independence, confidence, resilience and self-motivation, our school is running an Award Scheme called the Junior Duke Award. This programme is aimed at helping children from the age of 5 to 11 learn and practice a large variety of life skills.
Each of these levels has a selection of challenges. In order to complete a level, the children need to finish a pre-determined number of these successfully. These challenges include skills such as First Aid, ICT, Eco awareness, Drama, Music, Sport and other life skills such as cookery and puncture repairs on bikes. Children are given some of the necessary skills in school, but most of the challenges will require a good deal of time and effort out of school with friends and family.
On completion of a level each year, a well-earned certificate and badge will be awarded.
Meetings are held on a Wednesday lunchtime 12.30-1pm with Miss Handisides.
