Welcome to Year 6 - Autumn Term Overview

We are thrilled to welcome our Year 6 students to an exciting Autumn term filled with engaging learning experiences across a broad range of subjects. Here's a glimpse of what's in store:

English: Our literary journey begins with the enchanting tale of 'Skellig' by David Almond, followed by the exploration of Shaun Tan's 'The Arrival', enriching our understanding of storytelling and narrative techniques.

Skellig

Mathematics: We'll delve into the world of numbers, starting with place value, operations, and fractions. Our mathematical voyage will also cover practical applications such as converting units and understanding ratios.

Science: Get ready to classify the wonders of the natural world and unravel the mysteries of electricity. These topics will illuminate our scientific curiosity and understanding and we will make links to our geography topic of power.

History: We'll travel back in time to discover the fascinating civilization of The Maya, uncovering their contributions to history and culture.

Art: Inspired by the iconic works of Andy Warhol, we'll express our creativity through various mediums and also dive into the art of sculpting.

Design and Technology: Electrical systems will spark our design skills, as we learn to integrate them into our innovative creations.

Physical Education: Team spirit will be fostered through invasion games, while dance will allow us to express ourselves through movement.

ICT: The digital world awaits, with lessons on internet communication and the intricacies of web page creation.

French: Bonjour! Our linguistic abilities will be honed as we continue our journey with the beautiful French language.

Religious Education: We'll explore Christianity, understanding how Christians live and why they believe Jesus is the Messiah.

Music: The sounds of 'The Maya Rainforest' will resonate through our music classes, blending history with melody.

RSHE: Important discussions on stereotypes, friendships, and responsible internet use will support our personal and social development.

We look forward to a term of growth, discovery, and learning. Here's to a fantastic start to the year!
